What COLOR do I paint it? |
|
|
Thanks to Kimberly Panos, I have some line drawings of the Titan, similar to what I did for the Challenger group years ago. I fooled around with them a bit, and then converted them into .jpg format. Anyone is welcome to use these. Click on the thumbnail to get a full-size version. From there you can print it and color in with your crayons, or for the more technically-inclined, right-click on it and save the picture to your computer to be used in your favorite graphics program.

Here's one scheme I've come up with. Feel free to come up with your own designs and e-mail them to me. Who knows, it might just show up on my plane!

2/21/03. Here's another idea. I'm trying to get across the idea of speed.

More choices. |

And the winner is.... The fuselage is scheduled for the paint shop on 5/1/03.

5/20. I started doing the paint job myself, since Jay's Collision Center backed away from the deal we had. 3 hours of taping got me far enough to roll it into the paint booth.

The other side. | |

5/22/03. The body shop deal is getting worse all the time. I'm now painting it myself, using their equipment. After taking 5/20 off of work and spending all day prepping the fuselage, I spray on the first etching primer coat. If I was to go for a camouflage paint scheme, this would make a great base coat.

It's starting to look good being all one color. Notice I had to keep the doors raised to get the fuselage completely painted.

The white/gray sealer coat is applied. Since the paint scheme will be darker on the bottom side, I used a gray sealer there.

Arrrrgh!!!!!!!! I started spraying the white color coat, and it immediately started lifting and cracking. The body shop threw all their old cans of white paint together for me to use, so there must have been something in there that doesn't jive with what I've already sprayed. Fortunately, all I sprayed was the rudder and vertical stabilizer, so I didn't have to sand down the whole plane. This is setting me back a bunch more hours. :>(
