FUSELAGE

7/9/07.  I get the fuselage from Quad City a few days prior, and I spend Saturday opening up the mounds of cardboard and removing even more tape.  A perplexing problem shows up.  The seat pans are both pulled free from their rivets on a couple of corners
The rear seat pan is the same as the front, but with 2 corners pulled up.
There are no bend marks in either the front or rear seat pans, but something was pushed on it hard enough to pull the rivets right through them.
Expecting to find some evidence of shipper abuse, I was surprised to see the bottom cardboard intact, with the exception of a small indentation from the stick.  There were no holes in the cardboard on the bottom or the sides.
The one shipper damage I did find was to the right gear leg socket.  It had obviously been slid against something hard and dented the socket in.  Shouldn't be too hard to smooth it back out so the gear leg will fit.
Flaperons and fabric formers completed.
Here's the instrument panel with too many holes.
The fuselage gets its wheels.
Aligning the rudder pedals.
Nose cone is fitted, drilled and clecoed.
Ignition switch added.  VSI should go in the top hole.  Hour meter in the bottom.
Pitot tube mounted on top of the root tube.
Wiring takes forever.  Here's a few shot from behind the panel.  The positive and negative buss bars can be seen in the second photo.
The aluminum tank finally shows up.  I'm looking forward to how it's going to fit.
After some discussion with Ken, I order one of Mike Harrison's panels.  Much better fit, although it's thinner than QCU's panel.  It looks good and has more room for what I need.  The low fuel pressure light is the same as a EIS warning light.  Green indicator should keep the master from being left on accidentally and the orange indicator will remind you when the fuel pump is on.
I fabricated a plate to mount the strobe box.  This will keep it away from everything else, and is still accessible from the fuel tank door.  Amazingly enough, when I went to look for a place to mount the electric fuel pump, it fit on the back side of the strobe plate using the same mounting screws.  Very convenient.
Panel with the EGT gauge inserted.  I tested it tonight and it works.
Fuel tank installed.  It takes up most of the area behind the rear seat.  The fuel line running up the side of the tank makes a nice sight gauge.
All 3 wheel pants are on.
