Challenger LSS build for Ken Heide

Final Assembly

Now that paint is all done it's time for final assembly.  There is a little strake for the vertical stabilizer that goes on top of the dorsal fin.  It helps stiffen the stab.
The gear leg fairings took forever to trim so they would fit.  This side took 4 hours, while the other took about half that, now that I had practice.
The fuel pump was mounted fully floating.  Between the fuel lines and a few cable ties, it is very secure.
Starter is on, and wired up.  EGT sensors and most of the rest of the engine wiring is done.  It's almost ready to start up.
After a long day of assembly, the tailfeathers are on and hooked up.
This LSS tail is much bigger than the standard Challenger.
NOW it's starting to look like a finished plane.  Streamlined strut fairings are in the foreground.  They were just painted and are ready for installation.
Gap seal has to be trimmed and installed yet, but things are getting close, now.
Ken comes down for another weekend and gets busy with the drill press
The oil tank gets installed.
Strobe wires get routed before the gap cover goes on.
Ken wires up the plugs for the strobe box.  Must've done OK, because they work.  :>)
Front gap cover ready for a windshield.
With no room on the panel for the Tiny Tach, up above works just fine.
